PowerPoint
Presentation
As
a teaching professional I personally felt that PowerPoint presentation is soul
in teaching. I considered it as a soul of teaching because in this 21st
century anything can be taught through PowerPoint presentation for better
understanding. So after joining this college I have learnt many skills on
ICT/computer from the Functional Information Technology (FIT) module and ICT
module particularly designing PowerPoint presentation which I found the most
effective one.
I learnt that to design an effective PowerPoint presentation we need some
basic features like Big, Simple, Clear, Progressive and Consistent in
the slides.
Here Big means that we need to make the font size in the slides
visible from 2 metres away distance and the font or size of the letter should
not be too small or too big which can affect the audience interest.
The Simple in
the presentation slide means that we should not add too many colors and too
many fonts and styles. I learnt that we have to follow 6 x 7 rules which mean
no more than 6 lines per slide and no more than 7 words per line. In brief we
should not put so many text, pictures and colors’ in the slides.
Clarity
in the slides means to use contrasting colors like light on dark versus dark on
light. Moreover we should always use complementary colors in the slides and use
numbers to lists with sequence and bullet to list important points. On the
other hand we have to avoid writing all capital lettertogether, using serif
fonts, italics styles and underlined sentences as it represent hyperlinks.
Progressive
and consistent means to use clear and identifiable hints in listing the
important points to track differences and it should be consistence in the uses.
We need to use some surprises to attract or distract the audience in the
presentation.
Simulation is one the
most effective means to use in teaching which I learned under Power Point
presentation. Topics such as four seasons, different structures of Dzong,
electric current and many more can be taught by making simulation which will
help the children to understand the concept easily. ICT tutor gave us
opportunity to prepare simulation on anything which will attract the tourists
in our locality. At first I found it so difficult to prepare because I have to
apply different animation to make it creative and attractive. But later I could
produce at least one simulation at the end because of tutors guidance and
friends support. As I am from Paro, I made a simulation on Drugyel Dzong which
is one of the main assets of Paro which will attract tourists. I got so much of
satisfaction after I finished making simulation and on that day I realized if
we produce our own work, at the end how much satisfaction we get. So as a
future teacher we should encourage such give such activities or opportunity to
stimulate child’s creativity and critical thinking. And the simulation which I
have uploaded below is my own production.

Your reflection on power point presentation was brief but all the information required are present. There was sharing of real life examples and your reflection are supported by evidence.
ReplyDeleteHello Kezang!
ReplyDeleteMost of time what i like about your reflection is that, you never fail to write the skills that you acquired from the lesson. And moreover you always share the real life experiences. That Are few that i appreciate the most. not to forget i would recommend you that if viewer like us can see your image inserted that would be far more additional for us. because as of now your image inserted is not visible.anyway great job. congratulation
I liked how you expressed presentation as a soul of teaching in this century and i totally agree to your ideas. Your article clearly stated and explained the essential features that we must keep in our mind while preparing a presentation. Overall it was well written.
ReplyDeletehello. you have well described about how use of power point in class is helpful and how simulation is making the lesson more interactive. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI like your reflection. Its in detailed form especailly the design principles. You have written in such a way that anyone can design powerpoint presentation just by reading it. You have given examples which gave more light to your reflection. Keep it up
ReplyDeleteyou wrote well but it would be better if you colud insert a clear image of your work. i cannot see it.
